ICT Update Issue 84 Kenya opens up agricultural data, CTA

The Kenya government initiated the Open Data Initiative in 2011 backing the idea that Kenya's information is a national asset. Agriculture is one of the main pillars of this Initiative because food security and economic development can only move forward if decisions on agriculture are evidence-based. This article from CTA's ICT Update by Muchiri Nyaggah, Executive director of Kenya's Local Development Research Institute, describes why the Initiative is important and what has been achieved so far.
