Innovations in Food and Agriculture

GODAN is a proud partner of the Global Agripreneurs Summit, an international assembly of agrifood innovators who are currently meeting in Thessaloniki to share expertise and ideas, in a bid to anticipate future farming challenges and precipitate solutions. The event plays a significant role in GODANs efforts in the Mediterranean region, linking countries and stakeholders around a shared goal of promoting agriculture as a sustainable source of growth and economic development, through the use of game-changing technologies and innovation.

GODAN's Executive Director Andre Laperriere is at the Summit, having been invited to participate in several events, including the opening ceremony and moderating a panel discussion on Big Data: Empowering the farmer and the shift in the whole supply chain. Mr. Laperriere took the opportunity to meet with Greek Minister for Agricultural Development and Food, Mavroudis Voridis, strengthening ties between the GODAN Network and the Greek Ministry of Agriculture.

The 2019 Summit kicked off discussions in Greece at the weekend around the topic "Defining the Future Farmer 4.0". The event aims to envision how technology will transform the role of farmers in the food value chain. Inaugurated by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the event is dedicated to agrifood innovation, showcasing controversial voices, new technologies, regional perspectives, and undiscovered global solutions.

The Summit counts more than 263, 000 visitors this year, including farmers, agripreneurs, chefs, investors, organisations and policy makers from across the world.
