The International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) and colleagues in Taxonomies in the Public Sector (TiPs) are running a series of workshops on Linked Open Data (LOD). The aim of these events is to help ISKO members enhance their skills and make progress with linked data projects.
The first pilot event was held at CABI in Wallingford, Oxfordshire on 22 May, 2018 from 10:00 to 17:00 (BST).
The event included an afternoon training session especially suited to custodians of taxonomy, thesaurus or other type of Knowledge Organization System, who wish to set it up for linked data applications.
The workshop was be led by Jen Williams, an experienced ODI-registered trainer and software developer specializing in linked data publishing. Speakers included Martin Parr, Head of Open Data, CABI and Brandon Whitehead, CABI.
Outside of her development work, Jen Williams helps organize ODCamp, a free unconference focusing on all things related to Open Data.
Jen also co-organizes Tech4Good Bristol, a meetup group providing free cross-sector peer support to help not-for-profits increase their digital and data literacy.
Participants in the (optional) training session should bring their own computers to join in the hands-on practice.
