Godan sponsored and participated in in the Semantic Web Applications and Tools for Healthcare and Life Sciences (SWAT4(HC)LS) Workshop held in Antwerp, Belgium, from 3-6 December 2018. SWAT4(HC)LS is a venue for presenting and discussing novel ideas, experiences and issues in the application of semantic and Web technologies in the biomedical domain at large.
Since 2008, the SWAT4(HC)LS Workshop has provided a platform for the presentation and discussion of the benefits and limitations of applying Web-based information systems and semantic technologies in the domains of health care and life sciences. SWAT4(HC)LS has grown steadily each year as Semantic Web applications have become more widespread.
SWAT4(HC)LS provides an open and vibrant discussion space across academia, industry and institutional participants; from areas as diverse as eHealth, medical and clinical informatics, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, drug discovery, drug safety, systems biology, medical physics, data science, and biocomputing, to discuss goals, current limits and real experiences in the application of Semantic Web and Linked Data technologies to challenges in health care and life sciences. The meetings are typically very interactive and are accompanied by tutorials and a hackathon.
