ABEVILA was founded on May 1, 1990 and operating continuously in the city of Paripueira, Alagoas, initially with the intention of finding ways to generate income for women of the low-income population, firstly residents in the municipality itself and possibly all the state of Alagoas, Brazil. Its HQ is in the heart of the city of Paripueiria, a Centro de Processamento de Plantas Medicinais (CPPM) is beginning construction and has farming/agricultural/nutritional operations supporting communities across three regional municipalities and representing more than 2800 hectares of degraded lands and 1700 families. In partnership with the international H2CI consortium (already a GODAN Partner), Abevila is at the center of developing the Brazilian Traditional and Medicinal Centre of Excellence as well as, 9 other major projects in agricultural, health, environmental and social program areas.
