United Action for Children(UAC) was founded in 1996 and registered in 1998 under the Cameroon’s 1990 law on Associations (registration No. 557/G37/014/1/VO4/T/T/OAPP of 3rd August 1998) as a non-profit community based organisation and member of Streetfootballworld Network. Its the Host to the FIFA Football for Hope Centre in Cameroon, also Host to the ProjectWet in Cameroon and engaged in Grooming Little Minds for a Big Future. The overall goal of UAC is to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of key affected populations (Deprived People) such as orphans, street children, Internally displaced children as a result of the ongoing war in the English speaking regions of Cameroon, youth and young girls drug users, teenagers, women, sex workers…as well as in rural and urban areas. We achieve this through three main program areas: vocational training, agriculture, education, health, sewing, sports and economic empowerment. – Under education program, we own and run two nursery/primary schools for orphans and vulnerable children. We also support formal and informal education(including literacy) of the targeted population, including providing educational materials (uniform, exercise books, pen, school fees, etc…), and providing life and vocational skills to underprivileged groups as well as setting up a School poultry and garden for child nutrition and income generation. – Under the economic empowerment program,we are engaged in agriculture and provide entrepreneurship skills, vocational training, carry out container farming and gardening in schools, encourage saving and credit schemes and income generating activities for unemployed women, youth and teenagers, animate and mobilize the community & the target group to participate actively in liberating activities, we work for children, gender equality between man and woman. - Under the Community Sports for Development programme, UAC uses the power of football to tackle illiteracy and youth unemployment issues through the mobilization of children and young people to channel their energy towards productive initiatives and to remove them from the streets to place in schools/training centres thus making them them become responsible/useful citizens in their respective communities. The activities of this programme include football tournaments(inter village competitions), Cleanup campaigns by children and youths in communities, Cooperative activities, Thematic discussions on issues affecting their growth and development, Life skills activities, HIV/AIDS issues and Job shadowing. – Work with the community and the general public at large in providing humanitarian complementary services to disabled, abandoned, vulnerable children, orphans, widows, young youths with distress, aged, victim of natural calamities and also perform psychology rehabilitative therapy management and rehabilitation; – The protection of environment and conservation of nature.
